They say a ‘soft opening’ is a chance to work through the normal day to day activities and tasks and hope to come across some kinks in the hoses or sinks that leak. Of course one of the most important components is to determine how people respond; the guests, the servers, bar tenders, and managers. I can comfortably say that CREAM is open for business. I can’t confirm the details but it was overheard that the crowd was nearly the entire parking lot, yet the door and security staff most hospitably ushered in those with reservations, guests’ lists, or other credentials. For a large majority of those who didn’t have prior arraignments, the venues open space planning easily accommodated them.
Cream Stereo Lounge is a sophisticated palette of white finishes a high end venue brought together sounds from around the world on Saturdays Grand Opening. Resident DJ Earth keeps it fresh, familiar and funky. Great highlights of the evening were of course, the bath tub in the front…well at least the contents of the bathtub was spectacular. [You’ll have to simply see for yourself] A very note worthy aspect was Jeff Gutierrez, the complementary Saxophonist that lifted people on their feet.
The last but certainly not least attractions of the evening were a series of complete blackouts, followed an amazing light show that highlighted a traditional Belly Dancer who incorporated flames and snakes. Future events seem to be even more promising.

Platinum Nightlife Group and other collectives join to through down a Special Live Rock Star and Drummer set. The dynamic duo of Rock Star DJ Slippe and Jon Kelly from “A Change of Pace” tore it up for the 18+ crowd. As always a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case the birthday girl Natalia Parys played hostess to all the lovely people, just right for a Thursday night.

The promise of hearing some drum-n-bass, while watching DJ Craze with his ridiculously dexterous scratching, gave the beat junkies of this valley a little taste of deep rhythm and a handful of bass. This rarely supported genre, allowed for a nice introduction into his technical love of hip hop with clean cuts coupled with mixes of straight up rap, raw booty house, old-school electro, and sweaty lo-end dance-floor music. Politicking with the sophisticated minds about the stylistic beginnings of the music, gave me the impression they were well aware of electronic music since the early 90’s. This dynamic group of groovers seemed to really know of DJ Craze’s love and dedication to this amazing mix of music, which stands alone in a story of his own, an uphill battle that ends right at the top. Once again, the crowd at House 7340 got their fix while this legendary DJ dropped the beats like some have never seen before.

I Switch Wednesdays seems to be, and continually will be, an understatement. This week’s “One Night Affair” proves that the dynamic hustle of beatport.com, eventvibe.com, vt-dj.com, Blue Moon Productions, and others amount to a hefty return every Wednesday We had the pleasure of hearing from DJ Tranzit, DJ Thomas James, DJ Solomon, and DJ D’Strick (a pleasant surprise to the weekday lineup) Aside from this impressive foursome of house-a-holicks came other for a simple contest in which beautiful and talented dancers compete for a modest yet useful (in these hard economic times) purse of $600. Oh and by the way, almost every element of Switch has been nominated for ‘best of’ on AZNIA.ORG (Arizona Nightlife Industry Association) and its yearly calibration of industry professionals. From the Resident and Guest DJ’s, to Lighting and Sound, to the ‘Best Weekly Event’ in Scottsdale, the ‘Best Door Staff’, the ‘Best Bar Tender’, and on this occasion nominee for ‘Best Nightlife Photographer’ (shameless, I know) were present and accounted for. Strong solid house music from the beginning got everyone loosened and eventually soaked with perspiration. Come 11 PM, lucky thirteen ladies lined-up and competed for best GO-GO dancer. First place took home $500 + an additional last minute $100 bonus. Highlight for this spectator was obviously the shimmering skin on both ends of the bars’ poles, but also the community bottle of Grey Goose to “top it all off”. Cheers, it was a very special one night affair indeed

Flip the switch and your next trip will land you in DJ MCB’s house; AKA Radius where he is known for intensely mixed house music, and Political yet Party-People Minded Hip-Hop. Radius easily becomes another entity that embraces what seems to me, another 1000 beautiful clubbers. With the numbers these two Connected Weekend-Excellencies bring in, I’m amazed patrons don’t affront to the Cab-Packed streets for a block party. Perhaps the more than 12,000 combined square feet of Dance Floor Space, VIP Suites, and Lounges do the trick?

House 7340 and Myst brought the multifaceted, disciplined (relatively speaking) and ultra-creative, kid millionaire by means of creativeness; DJ Steve Aoki. Known for his off the wall and often literally on the turntables, Aoki rocked his Elcetro-Tech-House-Rock mostly without using any headphones, which he’s known for. DJ Steve Aoki is a popular DJ, record label owner, and clothing designer and was evident by the multi-demographical crowds’ passion for a simple hand shake, picture, or shirt…which Aoki Son graciously gave out. Nice one Myst!

“Twist” Thursdays at Myst takes on a fresh style by local host’s “Celebrity Collective”, DJ Slippe rocks the house as he shows the 18 and up crowds how to make a smooth and educated transition into the 21+ scene.
Combining 18 and up crowds with the usual Scottsdale clientele under one roof has been attempted time and time again. It is without a doubt that Celebrity Collective’s new Thursday night has found the Mystical mixture of house and hip hop to get the crowd popping. Myst has the perfect layout, which offers a full bar in the upstairs VIP Lounge for those seasoned patrons 21 and up, unique lounges to chill and converse in, and multiple area’s for the slick-looking young cats and the amazing array of stunningly sexy ladies to dance in. As always the staff is professional and appreciates those who are practice proper social etiquette. Like I always used to say, “Teach them well”, or perhaps that was a saying about the Technics MKII?

“Bubbles and Beats” at The Crown Room w/ well versed musical maestro DJ Gable every Thursday drops free champagne for Ladies till midnight. What!?
The champagne literally flows like water Thursday nights at the The Crown Room’s “Bubbles and Beats” with DJ Gable. Not exactly a hard task to do because the original and comfortable lounge/dance venue facilitates the “drink, dance, lounge and repeat” method. A definite Thursday stop because all drinks are ½ off all night! Another notable mention is the fact that DJ Gable, who runs other nights in Old Town, mixes house music while Warren G flows at 100 BPM’s and then masterfully layers in The Gypsy Kings. Yea, pretty hard to imagine, so I’ll be back next Thursday to make sure what I witnessed wasn’t a mirage of perfect lounging.

Saturdays at SIX LOUNGE has been a dig-able weekly presence for as long as this kid has been in the valley. Independently owning and therefore closely monitoring a joint in old town has apparently become a rarity, but Six Lounge’s owner Alex; was present and attentive this Saturday as usual. It’s not a surprise that Six Lounge implements successful and premeditated, newly weeklies right on cue. Like-minded and therefore proper-event fundamentalist promoters as well as, seasoned local DJ’s spawn collectives to scientifically switch up the joints vibe and reach. Special notes are that supporting collective members include Six’s resident DJ Delusion, nice-guy Celebrity Collective DJ Slippe, local all-around Terrence Young of Marquee Entertainment and most honorable mention Jessica Lee who keep posts on the details. This aided in the launch of another one of Six’s new Saturday weekly nights which congregated diverse, dynamic, dedicated dancers and groovers alike.

Myst presents House 7340 every Friday and this week brought wicked electro-house and Rehab resident Scotty Boy from Las Vegas. Eventvibe.com, SLE and favorite local DJ Tranzit created such a stir that super motocross riders in town for competition this weekend showed and made an all evening appearance. As always, beautiful go-go dancers impressed us with their goods along with other respectable dancers and groovers. Another notable mention is the fact that Myst staff and DJ’s give you the opportunity to finish your last beverage and get another 30 minutes of groove in even after the typical 2AM close time.
